Found almost 200 , downloaded and now installing………… Will see for next month updates , if it keeps problematic will stop with this updating!! In the morning I tried again and it went right through. You need to follow these directions exactly. It will also cut down on how many more Windows updates will need to be installed later. Windows Update has never been great but at least it was formerly usable. Do not try to run the stand alone updater before you reboot.
I think it will be fine. But this laptop came with 8 and it's going back to 8. Speeds are intentionally slow by design as Microsoft never intended clients to turn the update service on and off every month. Let us look at these points more in detail. This fix doesn't have any Windows 10 connection or telemetry which makes it trusted fix from Microsoft. I think it simply comes down to the fact that windows updates was built with the reduction of noticeable impact to users in mind. Have been trying to get windows update to work ever since.
This is a partial, not full, update replacement. Microsoft is really making things hard. But on a whole windows 10 does not feel a solid as windows 8 or windows 7 has been for me. From there I was able to download and install the new driver. After opening the Control Panel, under 'System and Security', I clicked on 'Find and fix problems'.
Such updates are no longer applicable and will not be detected for installation. First separate windows update service in svchost like this. But I haven't had any issues with updates since then. I've seen this quite frequently of late, and I assume that I've just done something in the wrong order. There has to be a better way to do it.
It's a multiple version persistent issue with Windows. I stopped windows update service, bits, windows installer and cryptic services and restarted them per other topics on this forum but that did not solve it. Have a look at my last post above. Update: A slightly modified option recently which involves adding required updates to the Windows 7 image. More importantly there is no user gymnastics required to speed things up.
Now go figure whether the order of installation should be A1-B-A2 or A1-A2-B, when the wrong decision can be deadly. Now that is archived, I'd like to provide an update. So the installation is barely touched. If you still have issue with Windows Update, proceed to next step. They won't auto-install but all applicatble updates will be listed when you do your monthly patching routine. Ran with eset Nod32 Antivirus - Results were fine if you would to ask. It starts doing its work from 20%.

I then ran another Check for updates and within 1 minute it came back with no important updates available. Please make sure you have a backup of your whole system. Not the answer you're looking for? You need a new version. But Microsoft has made great strides in supporting end-user consumers with Xbox, Zune, and other products and platforms. I wasn't happy with 8 due to the bugs but at least I could handle them.
