I would guess it is the connector that connects the keyboard to the motherboard. Then your touchpad should work as normal. Your flat tip goes in this parting line. Flip the laptop back over. The one towards the keypad. So the upshot is, it is an easy fix if you have the skill and patience to get under your keyboard. Just thought I would caution you.
