Chris Burkard: Well, I think for me, the idea of old school storytelling is still really very romantic and fun. After seeing the stunning trailer, we wanted to know more about the project so we caught up with Burkard to find out how it came together and to learn more about his goal to take it on a world tour. The producers of Our Planet have been forced to defend themselves. On the first trip we shot pretty run-and-gun style. He is happiest with his wife Breanne raising their two sons Jeremiah and Forrest in his hometown of Pismo Beach, California.
Alpha Universe: I want to ask you about that notion of a world tour, because today the notion of a tour might seem sort of dated. On he second trip we were set up to shoot footage in 4K, 6K, and more and with the best lenses we could get. And thus, beautiful images are no longer helpful. Along with his team, Burkard is based out of his production studio and art gallery on the Central Coast of California. After numerous trips to arctic regions like the Aleutian Islands, the Kamchatka Peninsula and the Faroe Islands they knew they wanted to focus on more than just surfing in their next film. At the age of 30, Burkard has established himself as a global presence and influencer. So we went back and we did it again and we knew we had something really special.
