It features sexual references and situations, including a couple of gentle kissing scenes and one gently framed sex scene body parts and faces in close-up. It has entire scenes that would get a C- in a screen writing 101 class.

With this film and the completely different but also observant comedy , black women are being paid a kind of attention they deserve but rarely get in the movies.
Okay, so Kenya Sanaa Lathan's character gets what she wants far too easily - repeatedly - and so there's a needlessly absurd scene involving a white boy in a Mexican mariachi outfit at a black high society event, which in real life would be humiliating for everybody within six city blocks. Their easy, sensual rapport partly owes something to the generally sure hand of the film's director, Sanaa Hamri, making a fine feature debut, and something else, something indefinable, to the delectable mysteries of two bodies in cinematic motion. Bonus Reason: I mean, who are the guests? The film's lack of depth as it oversimplifies the complexities of racism keep it from being anything other than a lightweight date movie. Although Brian is helping her feel more comfortable about her living environment, Kenya finds it difficult to dismiss her reservations about their romance.
