It is always hard to test turbos on the driveway, the engine needs to under a fairly high load to really bring the turbo in, but some movement when revved is quite possible. But that would not be everybody's choice! This would provide basic information on Turbo performance. If you've already made it to the store, you might as well just replace it. Talk to the garage and see if they have anything sensible to say. I had a similar intermittent fault and it was the solder on the circuit board bridges. Excellent service I must say.
