The smallest part in this movie, from Samuel Jackson's cameo thru Bo Svenson's preacher to Michael Parks' gifted little turn as the crafty old Esteban is just flawless acting of the highest calibre.
As a fan of 70's martial arts movies, it was great to see all of the references. It was a master-stroke of casting, scripting and cinematography. Do you believe you are my match? There's more dialogue, more twists n turns and the anti-chronological structure results in more depth and involvement. Madsen's good, though, and so's Daryl Hannah as another rather mouthy assassin, Gordon Liu as Pei Mei, and especially Perla Haney-Jardine as a girl named B. I accused the powers that be of trying to squeeze two box office triumphs out of a single project. No one works with small details the way Quentin does. From that moment forward to the end, this is the best Tarantino has ever been.
You don't go to see Kill Bill, or any other Q. Some unexplained elements from Vol. Yes, this movie is violent, but in a cheesy way. Lets see your Tiger Crane match my Eagle's Claw. My wife, who really doesn't like anything that is not overly melancholy or dripping with sentimentality, actually liked the whole movie. Go to that rack, Remove the sword. Some great, some good and some mostly inedible; most left my breath with a sour smell. Even when fighting against more than 50 Crazy 8's, it replicated admirably the incredibly one-sided fights from some of the best martial arts movies made 30 years ago. Containing less action than 'Kill Bill', volume 2 is intelligent, bizarre and extremely engrossing.
