bread, wine & fish
December 22 2006Today is the day after I finished work for the year. It’s been a long tough year for me. Though in the greater scheme of things I am a lucky bastard. However I look forward to finding equilibrium in the next four weeks.
To kick this off we hit AK Central this morning to prime the pump.
Checked out the new-ish City Farmers Market down in Britomart. Small but looks promising.
There were 12 stalls selling a mix of food and a single plant vendor. I bought some smoked garlic (Daraville) and a couple of loaves of bread (Riverhead). Haven’t tried the garlic from today but can highly recommend Harry’s. He can be found at various markets around Auckland.
Next stop was the Fine Wine Warehouse to stock up on some tasty Argentinean Malbec (Chanarmuyo), Spanish Grenanche (Armantes) and the most amazing Grappa (Ornellaia). The reds are great value ever day drinking. Whilst the grappa is a real treat. If you like delicate flavoured high octane drinking, single malt style, then check out the straw tones of Ornellaia. If you’re looking for bubbles No.1 and No.8 are good NZ produced choices.
Rounding off the loop was a dash down to Viaduct. Collecting the pre-ordered smoked salmon from the Fish Market.
So then we are sorted. All that remains is to catch up with friends and family.
In the new year I’m going to transition syntho.org to a new system and become a bit more transparent and hopefully I bit more regular in my posting.
